Is Google down?

I keep getting error messages when trying to search for something.

Weird.

Everything's been down and weird today. Blogger has only just come back online, but we're still experiencing difficulties with other websites such as Emirates' Skywards.

I have been getting the same error messages since yesterday. Something to do with Etisalat using very few distinct ip addresses cross the country?

Also, everything is slow. a mess, but the whole thing of having to justify to google that I am not a hacker is a complete pain.

Yeah, I've been getting either "You look like a hacker so we're not letting you in" message or a simple "Not found".

Oh so it's not a Google thing, it's an Etisalat thing?

Well I guess it's kinda both, but more etisalat. They need to explain to google that the whole of the uae shouldnt be penalised for all the hackers that exist here or proxy off etisalat. Tricky, very tricky.

I wonder how that Google thing (it's called a 'captcha' by the way) is applied - is it a blanket thing on suspect country TLDs or what?

I wasn't getting the Google thing - possibly because our home internet connection is through the DIC.

So it must have been an Etislat IP thing.

Yeah I'm not having problems at home in Dubai or at work (where our internet connections are also through DIC), so I do think that it's an Etisalat problem again.
