Ouch!

I got my rent renewal notice today, and just as I suspected, it was the maximum amount, 15%. It's ridiculous! This amounts to a more than Dhs 8000 yearly increase! Damn....

And the sad part is (and I have already brought this point up before) that employers are not doing anything to compensate for this huge increase in the cost of living. I sometimes wonder if the purpose of such drastic increases is to limit the number of people who move here....maybe that's the government's plan?

J'ai déjà dans ma courte vie (1 fois) contesté une augmentation de loyer auprès du propriétaire en lui disant qu'il n'avait fait aucunes améliorations locatives, aucunes réparations, etc. Je lui ai dit que j'accepterais une augmentation (pour compenser l'augementation du cout de la vie... BS!) mais pas celle qu'il demandais (la moitiée). Est-ce possible de faire ça à Dubai? You could always argue the pool closure and any other booboos that aren't repaired...

Chazoo...malheureusement, la loi ici permet une augmentation de 15%...Ce qui est deja pas mal par rapport au 20 et 30% d'augmentation qui avaient lieu avant l'implentation de la loi...Donc pas moyen de contester le 15%. C'est fou! Surtout quand tu penses qu'a Montreal, c'est un maximum de 3 ou 4% maximum!
