No more free-riding

Well...it had to end at some point....I got a call from DIC today and they told me that there was a glitch in their system that showed them that I had not been billed for my internet service for the past 15 months and that they were not going to charge me for those 15 months (phew!) but that I had to start paying now...So I have to re-subscribe (because apparently the system is showing that I am not a subscriber), and in order to do so, I have to pay a DHS 200 setup fee...

Say what? Setup fee? I paid the setup fee when I first installed my internet connection. Why should I pay again now? I say those words exactly to the customer service rep, and she says "wait let me check", she puts me on hold, comes back and says I'm sorry you have to pay because we need to set up a new connection...so I say "no way, I will not pay again"...she puts me on hold again, comes back, and says "ok ma'am, we will call you again, ok?"...

Fine. Didn't hear back from them today...and I am going on holiday for a week...so I am absolutely expecting to come back and not have an internet connection at home....

Oh well... At least I didn't get a call about the free TV I've been enjoying so far...at least not yet!

Ha! Same thing with my ISP, only it was 6 months!

Didn't have the same luck with the tv, though -- lucky you!

U hope that you didn't open up a can of worms; have them reconsider and make you now pay the 15 months because of your stance to not pay the fee....

All good things must come to an end!

Before I left the sandlands I was living in a villa in Jumeirah. I was there for about 9 months and never once received an electricity bill! Thanks DEWA! Perhaps you thought i'd been paying your extortionate prices for far too long!
