Everything looks better with a tan

One of the reasons I moved back here is because of the weather. I love UAE weather. I don't mind the heat and humidity. I'd rather that than -25 degrees temperatures. And I am one of those year-round beach-goers. I don't understand people who say "it's too damn hot" in the summer, and "it's too chilly" in the winter. Actually, December/January is really the best time to go to the beach. What more could you ask for: sun, sand, and a chilly but gorgeous sea (the secret is to simply jump in as fast as you can!).

When I lived in Canada, I'd look forward to coming back to the UAE just to get a tan...especially in December when I'd be as white as an aspirin pill. A few days of sun and beach later, I'd get a nice, dark tan.

I feel so much better when I am tanned: my clothes look better, my make-up looks better, I feel more energized....it's a great feeling. I just wish I could stay tanned, without having to work so hard at staying tanned! I've neglected my tan lately, what with travelling and working and sheer laziness. And I knew I was in trouble when my ex-blonde-usually-white-never-gets-tanned-sister came back from Greece looking 10 shades darker than me.

Now that's just wrong! Gotta get working on that tan!

Have you tried spray tan? I used to use a place on the Sheikh Zayed Road near the defence roundabout (can't remember the name but it did nails mostly). I was always too busy working to get a decent tan so visited the salon frequently! I'm one of those people that needs 2 weeks solid sunbathing just to lose the purple shade! lol.

I only wish I could find someone here that does the spray properly as i'd have it done in an instant. The couple i have found seem to turn everyone orange! Not a pretty sight :(

Number 1: even with the dark hair, I am still 5 shades darker than you are.

Number 2: white is beautiful (um...i'm just trying to make myself feel better)

Number 3: once I do tan, I do keep it for a while and I look good! :p
(carrot juice people! makes the tan last longer!)

DS: take some consolation that in a week's time Sky won't look so tanned - Greek tans fade really quickly!

nzm, so mean! Clearly you have taken sides :p

I've already lost half of it...so sad...:(
I wanna go back to Greece!

Sky: I haven't taken sides at all - I just know what Greek tans will do! lol.

But you've inspired my next post which will be Greek images. For the past 2 years we've been in Greece at this time of the year, but not this year. So in memory of our wonderful past experiences, I'm going to put up some images tonight!

I got a tan in Santa Monica .. its still there till now.

But my wife tells me its a severe sunburn .. not a tan :-|

moryarti, any tan is bad for you. Could be a severe sunburn...you will start peeling soon if it is. I peeled so much! For the past week I've woken up to layers upon layers of skin that I shed in my bed..it was quite gross actually :)

nzm, you are intent on making me cry it seems...I miss Greece, I feel like it was a dream! Look forward to your pics though :)

LOL you guys crack me up. I was away from my computer for one whole day and come back to see all these comments...hilarious. Sky, really, tmi about the skin shedding thing...I mean, seeing it was bad enough, but the way you put it is simply gross :)

NZM, lol @ "under my flaky skin" comment....now I can't get that song out of my head!

Mory, if your wife is telling you your tan looks like sunburn more than 3 days after you got the tan, then it's sunburn...trust me!

Desert Lady, I never really got into the fake tan thing...and it kinda defeats the purpose when you're living in a country with year-round sunshine...although the fake tan is probably better for my health than the real thing, I still think a bit of sunlight once in a while can do the body a whole lot of good!

My friend tried the spray tan, and it looked good on her. I am afraid to try it, with my luck I would turn orange :P

Heh, I know what you mean ... and I am so worried to move to Canada. Not only I cannot live without a tan, I cannot start a day without sunshine!

I love tan skin too, but remember that this could be dangerous for some specific parts of your body. In fact a friend of mine who is always visiting
Viagra Online Without Prescription used to take sun every day but now he used a spray tan.
