I miss winter clothes: the coats, the scarves, the turtlenecks, the boots, the gloves, the hats...
I miss snow, so quiet, so calming, so beautiful, so pure...
I miss Christmas lights adorning the city...
I miss sitting in a coffee shop with a nice, warm cup of coffee, watching the snow fall...
I miss the warmth of the heater, when the temperatures hit unimagineable lows...
I miss hearing rain hammering against my window...
I miss the shivers that run down my spine when lightining strikes and thunder roars...
I miss the crackling sounds of wood burning in a fireplace...
I miss waking up when it's still dark and quiet...
I miss the sound of fresh snow crunching under my boots...
I never thought I'd say it...but I really do miss winter!

better it was from the heat burns and rattle snakes
You're nuts! :-)
It's getting freaking cold here in Germany and we're very glad that we'll be back in dxb on Friday!
I miss the winter until I've had to shovel snow for the 100th time (Northern Vermont provides for many opportunities to shovel). But I know what you mean, it's somehow a magical time of year--especially the first snowfall!
I don't think I miss winter... yet! Although it never really got all that cold in Auckland anyway, and definitely no snow. I miss the rain a bit though but that should come soon enough.
You could always spend the day down at Ski Dubai, :-D
well, you can thank god we don't have much rain here. 99.9% of Dubai driver's don't come with a 'driving-on-wet-road' tool installed..
Hey, Auckland used to get rain and then out came the crazy drivers too! Accidents all around and blocked motorways, all because the drivers didn't follow 3 rules:
- slow down
- double the safe following distance between your car and the car in front (2 secs in the dry, 4 in the wet)
- allow double the braking distance.
:-)
I miss the winter clothes, the first snowfall, the christmas lights and having coffee in the winter ......
When you put it that way, i kinda miss it too.
But just remember how much we used to complain about -40 degree temps, ruined trousers, ugly bulky boots, frostbite, black slush, ice patches ready to break your neck etc etc.
:)
I am beach loving/sun worshiping person usually, but I was at a very cosy coffee shop yesterday and I just wanted it to be cold and snowy outside....and it just seems that cold weather is appropriate for this time of year....
That being said, I know what snow and winter are also annoying, long and painful :) Thanks for reminding me Sky!
Worrying about filling up on gas when you have to do it yourself on freezing nights, waiting for the car to warm up in the morning and evening, slippery highways, stubborn salt sticking to your car and boots.. etc etc...
I miss winter too. I swear.

You're mad! I don't miss any of those thimgs at all!
Do you miss the very short days, going to work in the dark? Leaving work in the dark? The continuous damp that never seems to leave your bones?!
Give me Dubai's climate anytime!
HMHB
Where did you live?
Well, living in sweden, which is pretty much as cold as it gets (besides Siberia), there is something charming about snuggling with a woollen checkered blanket while sipping on green tea on the sofa listening to your favourite song while the snow falls.
And then 9 months later, you are fed up.
How about we trade? You can have 4,5 months of the cold while I get to bask in the sun?
Restless, I lived in Montreal (almost the North Pole!)
HMHB, I also love Dubai's climate...that's one of the reasons I moved back here...but once in a while, I do yearn for the good old winter days...
Shakhspeara, I agree that winter is nice, but just for a little while...and that 9months of winter is overdoing it really!
I'll take 3 months of cold....no more than that! :)
A second thought,,, your post sounds like an Ally McBeal's episode.. :)
Nice blog! Full of informative ideas. Thank you, keep sharing
